Dyslexia Action

Dyslexia Action is a national charity and the UK's leading provider of services and support for people with dyslexia and literacy difficulties

Dyslexia Action is an educational charity, established in 2006, which developed from the merger of the Dyslexia Institute (founded in 1972) and the Hornsby International Dyslexia Centre (founded in 1984).

Dyslexia Action is the UK’s leading provider of services and support for people with dyslexia and literacy difficulties. We specialise in assessment, teaching and training. We also develop and distribute teaching materials and undertake research.

The Parents Area  of our website  - In this section we define the term ‘dyslexia’, give advice on how it can be recognized and answer questions about it. We describe how a child can be formally assessed and outline multisensory teaching methods. We describe some of the research findings which underpin our teaching and training, and refer to some of the funds available to support specialist provision.
